Quick – Name 5 famous women scientists. Only 5 – women in science. Go ahead. Listening. After Marie Curie and Jane Goodall.. and maybe one or two others… are you scratching your head? Wondering WHY in the WORLD you can.not.name.5 (only 5). women.scientists? We can probably name 5 male scientists. Or 5 brands of shampoo. Or 5 hot-dog toppings. But to name 5 women scientists who made major discoveries… nope. Drawing a blank. Doesn’t it make you wonder why?
THANK YOU Rachel Ignotofsky who is the amazing author and illustrator of this cool and coffee-table chic book all about Women in Science.

Not only does this book show off what women have done, discovered and discussed in science – it shows off #GirlPower and encourages all young girls to LEAP at any chance they have to observe and be curious in ANY field they want. Science, math… whatever. Do it. Be inspired. Fly!
Always feels like another step towards gender equality to see the amazing accomplishments that came before us in this book and to acknowledge these ladies intellectual gifts. Celebrate it all – and learn a little something in the process!

I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review but all opinions are my own.
Sound like a fabulous book to read. I Am all about Girl Power.
I see this as being the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer for my daughter! I can name 5 women scientists, but I studied biology and chemistry in college, so that’s why! Love the book!
This looks like an interesting read. I’m always for #GirlPower. I will look for this book.
This is fantastic! It is sad that we even need a book like this to showcase women scientists. But this is a great start!
I’m getting my college degree in biochemistry and graduate this december so I was probably the only person who could actually answer the five women in science question. I am one of only 10 girls in my entire college graduating class getting my degree. It is high time we start encouraging girls to get science degrees! I LOVE it. I need it for my coffee table too!!!
I’ve never heard of this book before but it definitely seems like an empowering read! it’s a shame more people haven’t heard of the female pioneers in history
I am all about girl power too but it shames me to admit I can’t name more than 5 female scientists. This book
looks brilliant.
I admit – I can’t name more than 5 female scientists. This sounds like such a great book that I need to look for.
I think it’s an amazing book and something that will inspire the kids especially the young girls out there. It’s good to know what these women have achieved, it allows you to dream big and aim for bigger goals! So motivating.
#sciencegirlboss. It’s great to see women being recognized for their work. This book reminds of the new movie coming out about the women who worked in the space program. It’s time our accomplishments were appreciate and celebrated.
This is such a neat book! I love to hear about women who are changing the world or who have already done so!
I love reading inspirational books. And since this is a women power book, I am sold!
Haha! I literally had Curie, and “that lady would wrote the codes for Apollo 11” and none else. You’re right! I am literally looking at Amazon and putting it in my cart right now. Golly, it looks so pretty and an interesting read. I’m the literal sucker for judging a book by its cover.
This sounds like such a great book! I love anything that has to do with empowering women.
This looks like something I definitely want to pick up and give a read. I would love to see the stories.
This book looks so interesting. I am definitely going to be looking into getting this.
Girl’s Rock! I have to admit, I didn’t know a single one. Sad, I know. This will go on my winter reading list 🙂
What a wonderful book! My daughter wants to go into medicine so I definitely need to get this book for her, thanks for sharing!
I need this for my daughter! I always want my daughter to be able to read more about women in science!
I love these type of books! I’ll have to get this book sometime. It’s a book that my daughter and I can both enjoy.
Ooooo now this sounds like one awesome read!!! Nothing better than seeing power girls!!!
LOVE THIS! I can’t believe I couldn’t name 5 female scientist! I definitely need to grab a copy!
Despite it’s obvious interest factor, it is also very pretty. I love books and decorate with them all over…this one is now on my list
I can’t wait to check this book out! It will be perfect for my daughter who absolutely loves science. I don’t think I ever thought about how we don’t know many women scientists.
