What to wear? It’s kinda winter but kinda spring. The temps go from “omg freezing-ness” to “open the windows!” How do you dress for this type of insanity from winter to spring? What outfit ideas work? Simple. Transitional outfits.
Lay on the Layers
Layering for weather patterns that go from super cold to super hot is NOT the same as layering for a day on the slopes. The way you layer and the type of fabrics you layer play a big part. Remember this post about what to wear in the spring when it’s cold outside?
5 Transitional Outfit Tips & Ideas…
Cotton fabrics are your friend. Layer a cotton shirt with a cotton jacket with a cotton scarf… you get the idea. Bring in those bomber jackets, keep the kimonos coming, and don’t forget about denim!
One and done. Add one substantially warm item to the mix for that extra snuggle of warmth when needed. For example, a faux fur scarf or a chunky knit scarf combined with a cotton shirt is ideal for walking from the car to a restaurant and easy to add or remove during the evening.
BFF Blazers. Upgrade your vibe with a classic blazer. The structured style of a blazer can streamline any look (er…almost any look. Sweatpants not included) to create clean lines to your look. And, it adds warmth, which might (or might not) be needed depending on the day.
OTK Boots. Bring on the boots that are over-the-knee (look for ones with a flat or slight block heel) to add chic style with some warmth. Not a lot of warmth. Just some. OTK boots are typically a thinner material than winter boots, which is a transition piece dream!
InVEST in a Vest. From Lilly Pulitzer to J.Crew to Old Navy, quilted vests are not hard to find. And (bonus) they are comfy cozy, add some warmth and can be easily added to any lightly-layered outfit.
✅Done & done for what to wear during wonky weather thanks to these 5 wardrobe items!
