Not trying to make any other pretty pieces of my wardrobe feel badly, but I do have my favorites. Those pieces I am always reaching for first. Those on major rotation. The ones that I am nicer in when I wear them! Perfectly worn with anything and easily styled. Flattering on but feeling like a worn-in sweatshirt. Do you have fashion favorites in your closet too? Want to add one more to the squad?
Never underestimate the power of a good tunic. Tunics are top trending in fashion for a million reasons. Throw one on, and done. You love the look. You’re out the door. And – if you aren’t enjoying what you’re wearing – you’re really missing the point.
Question: are you a part of that 80/20 club? That club where you wear only about 20% of your clothes 80% of the time? Guilty? If that’s the case – why? Is it because of the color of the piece? The fit? The material? Think about it. Then take that info and apply it to your next shopping trip. Believe you-me. This tip will save you from buying things that you will probably never wear. Instead- seek pieces, like THIS tunic, that will become a member of the 20% club in your closet.
5 Outfit Ideas for a Tunic Top
- Distressed (skinny) Denim: Why? Creates a balance from the flowing basic structure of the tunic with the torn, skinny denim.
- Tucked: Why? Gives off a classic, chill vibe by tucking in just the front of the tunic into your pants while the back flawlessly flows.
- Basic Black: Why? C’mon – we all know the why wearing anything black works.
- Layer It: Why? Wearing a tunic, underneath a strappy sundress, instantly give you that trend-setter look.
- Belted with a Blazer: Why? Defines your waist. How? Put on a tunic – belt it. Throw a blazer or moto jacket over it. Street style right there.
BONUS: THIS tunic works. Running errands on a rainy day? Check. Hanging out at home? Check. Wearing it to work? Yep, it works! haha – see what I did there?

*Loved partnering with Ivy & Leo for this post, but as always all opinions are my own.
I Have my same old go-to pieces, too. I feel like I need to get the rest of my wardrobe into the mix, but always end up in the same things.
I do have key pieces in my closet as well. And you’re right! They’re the ones that definitely make me look and feel good. This tunic is a must have, aside from the fact that black is my default color when it comes to clothes, I like that there are plenty of ways to wear it. Looks comfy too!
Great tunics are really so important to an everyday wardrobe. You look very comfortable and casual here — just my style!
I never thought of tucking in a tunic. Great way to wear it another way!
I am loving the all black in this outfit! I never tuck in my tunics, but it looks so great on you!
I love a great tunic! I love them even more when they have sleeves like this one.
I was guilty of having a closet stuffed with clothes and only wearing 20%. I went through the whole wardrobe last month thoroughly examining everything. I donated a lot of clothes! Stored seasonal stuff and it’s been so freeing to go to a closet where everything I wear is right on hand!
I love this outfit! It’s so dang cute! Love the black and I don’t tuck in my tunics ever! Ok, rarely.
You look great, I love the all black too! I need some new stuff in my wardrobe!
I will admit I’m also guilty of using 20% of my clothes 80% of the time, but I think it’s mostly because I’m too lazy to create new combinations of clothes and to wear different things haha. But this tunic looks like a nice addition to any closet! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I can see why it would be a standard in your wardrobe. I love the look. The bag is pretty cool too!
When I find a top I love, I just buy a ton of them LOL! I love the vest too!!!
I really like it! I am all about black latel and with a vest like you have I would love it. Looks so warm too, which is something I need up here in Canada! SO COOOOLD. Love the sleeves.
I absolutely love your tip about understanding why you love your favorite articles of clothing and applying that to your next shopping trip. I am definitely a 20/80 person and I should totally think about what I like so I buy more of it instead of wasting money on the stuff I don’t like as much.
I loveee this all black look! And that Gucci bag has become so popular, I love the style
Love how put together this look is – and the necklace from your previous post gives it such a chic edge! Gorgeous! x
I love a good tunic as well – they are always so flattering. And I definitely used to belong to the 80/20 club, but last year I had had enough and purged most of my wardrobe. I figure if I never wear it, why am I giving it prime real estate in my closet 🙂
I have always loved tunics. They’re undeniable chic, sophisticated, and timeless! I also love that they’re versatile.
Im probably apart of that 80/20 club. I like this post too because it shows you how you bought a piece you know you can get multiple variation of usages out of. That to me is what makes something stylish!
I love the roll tab sleeves! For me, tunics are either oddly too casual looking or absolutely adorable and I want this one in my closet! Super cute!!
I LOVE tunics. They are so comfy and you can dress them up or down. Love your look!
Girl just give me all the black clothes all the time! I love a good tunic. So versatile =)
Tunics are one of my fave go tos! They are so comfy and go with everything! Love how you styled this one!
