Yes, the LBD is a no-brainer go-to staple in your wardrobe for any event or activity. But, that “obvious dress choice” can lend itself to become boring. And that’s no bueno. By updating your LBD with just a few simple style tricks, you will look on trend (but not trendy) and modern.
The secret? Balance. Adding in too many “statement” pieces or accessories that don’t seem like they’d be friends can make for a wonky and outdated outfit. Take a peek at the ideas below (all are SHOPPABLE LINKS, so just click on anything you like to get you right to the site to purchase) and use these tips to up your LBD game.
Go casual with your LBD for a day date or brunch this fall. The pop of blue nailpolish is just what is needed for a little subtle pop of chic.
Neutral silvers (jewelry and sophistocated clutch) make this LBD look classic, while the on-trend vibe of the leopard print mule makes this LBD look scream streetstyle.
Again, silver neutrals but in a different way. Keeping those neutrals rotating with your LBD while throwing in that color pop of something-something (this red crossbody bag with fun, flirty tassels) keeps it balanced and fresh.
Casual LBD doesn’t always equate to athleisure. Yes, wearing Adidas sneakers and a sweatshirt tied at the waist is one option. Another option is a pulled together ensemble that includes all classics. The tote, pointy toe flat and simple stud earrings are easy to throw on but give off signature style.
Getting glam with your LBD? Black and white is stunning, IMO. But boring it is not. Check out the gorgeous detailing on the heel! And with this clutch each part of the look is perfectly accented and charming.

When it comes to my little black dress – LBD – it’s all about the accessories. You can dress it up or dress it down just by switching up the accessories.
I LOVE it! Of course, the classic little black dress is perfect for a slimming look, however it also makes a wonderful base for all kinds of fun accessory options.
A cute LBD is definitely my favorite evening look, especially long-sleeved versions. So I absolutely love all of these!!! And I love the way you’ve styled them.
Loving that Dior nail color! I really like the last LBD. Perfect for the season.
Now here is a black dress that I would totally wear. Love the sleeves. All the accessories look wonderful and you look beautiful

What great ideas. You look beautiful in yours. I have one, but I haven’t worn it in years. I should pull it out and see if it even fits.
You look wonderful in your little black dress. I also like the ones you showcased in your post. What I love about the LBD is you can accessorize it in different ways and it never looks exactly the same. Great ideas.
These looks take the LBD to another level. Love the boots as an option and of course the heals are always a good option. I love your backdrop so classy.
Perfect little black dress, I love the long sleeves on it. The boots really make it pop, great tips!
Shoes. I have to have a delightful pair of shoes. My LBD is so simple that it needs a wow factor. Shoes and I have a large topaz and diamond necklace that take it over the top.
