Ok, ok…. who has a goal of organizing this year? Is it a BIG or a SMALL goal? Either way, here is one way that you can begin. Tackling your sweaters in your closet. Its one step in getting better organized this year. Are you missing the gene for organization? Don’t feel trapped… there is an easy escape. The new year is a perfect time to get your sweaters in order! If your sweaters are in a lumpy pile, a large stack or even still with tags on them… Read on.

My Sweet Sweater plan:
1. Go through your stuff – you might have forgotten what you have! (Been there…)
2. Purge (don’t throw out – donate what you don’t want…)
3. Organize what’s left!
Here’s my GlamKaren tip: Easiest way to organize (and KEEP organized) is to place all of your sweaters into large plastic containers. Go to Target (this gives you an excuse to go…again) and pick up several large, clear boxes. I bet they might even be on sale now that the holidays are over! Once you have your sweaters ready to place into the bins take a picture of them (something simple with your iPhone … not talking about getting photo flood lights out.) Each photo should be an image of all of the sweaters that are going to be housed in each bin.
Once you have your photos, simply print out the picture and tape that on the outside of the bin. Store the bins. Now your sweaters have a happy home and you can locate them quickly and easily.
Done.
Think you’ll give this sweet sweater organization a try? You can do the photo trick on bins for anything! Think shoes, jewelry, handbags… and then you can even move this organizational trick into other rooms of your house!
This is exactly what I need to do! With moving to another state I am going to have to do some major organizing and also decide what to get rid of. I just an’t bring it all. I will probably go pick up some of those containers to transport the last bit of clothes I left in Arizona.
Ok, I absolutely adore this organization tip! Being someone who is a bit nitpicky and needs everything in its place, this simple tip helps a lot and I am totally going to apply this throughout the year! Thank you sweetie !
I totally should do this. I only need a sweater every other year living in Miami. It’s like 80 degrees and it’s winter! I have all these coats and sweaters taking space from when I travel that they really need to find a bin to live in.
What a great idea!! I don’t have shelves at the top of my closet, but I can definitely see this working for when I store my sweaters off season. I love the idea of taking a photo and putting it on the outside of the box! That’s a fantastic idea :).
I love this idea and have actually done something similar with all my St. Vincent finds! I have many totes and I’d never remember everything that is in them. The photo idea works so well 🙂 I’ll have to give this a try with my clothes. Great idea!
That’s such a smart idea with placing the photos on the outside of the plastic boxes! Love it!! ~Christina http://thedancegrad.com http://chriskayoga.com
