If you get – you should also GIVE. Give back. Because we can all make a positive difference in the world – which the world definitely needs now. So today I encourage YOU to find one way that you can participate in an act of giving back. And I’m going to help you figure that out!
The beach is, for many, their happy place. Personally, I could spend a mil hours there … paddle boarding in the ocean…picking up shells…walking the shore line. And it got me thinking. How could I give back to the beach? A “Pay it Forward” type of thing.
Create a Ripple…
- Beach Walk: (Almost) every night my husband and I would walk the beach.
- Bring a Bag: Just by bringing a garbage bag along, we did our walk while collecting trash on the beach.
- Big Difference: By collecting a bag of trash a day, we knew we were helping marine life.
- Imagine the TOTAL amount of trash collected over a few days…a week…a month.
- Feels FABULOUS to give back…
Your Turn
- Make it Simple: Find small yet meaningful ways to give back. You’ll be able to keep it up…
- What do you LOVE? Give back within that realm.
- Mix It Up: Pick up trash… donate… volunteer… leave kind notes around town. Keep it fresh and fun!
- My family just donated 2 bikes to Jack the Bike Man. This retired man, along with his team, fixes thousands of bikes and gives them away to needy children.
- “I just wanted to make the community a little bit better,” Jack said, and added “What else would I be doing?”

Ideas to Get YOU Going…
- Donate books/clothing/furniture to a charity
- Google local charities – maybe you can find a type of “Jack the Bike Man” near you!
- Volunteer at an animal shelter
- Donate pet food/toys/blankets to an animal shelter
- Donate hygene products, clothing, anything to a women’s shelter
- Shop local-Dine local – Support local
- Give blood
- Send flowers to someone who needs it…anonymously.
- Leave a BIG tip at a local restaurant
- Compliment a stranger in public
- Pay for the person’s Starbucks behind you in the drive-thru line
- Write a thank-you note to a teacher/mail carrier/firefighter/nurse…
- Recycle on the regular
- Shovel an elderly neighbor’s sidewalk
- Put an extra quarter or 2 in someone’s parking meter (that’s about to run out)
- Smile (spread happy vibes…)
Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world. We can’t help everyone or every cause – but everyone can help do something.
Let KINDNESS be your Superpower… How will you create a ripple to pay it forward?
Such a great reminder to pay it forward, and to give back for what goodness we receive from the Earth, and from others. Your list has some nice suggestions, thanks for sharing!
I’m glad you like the post. It’s really nice to be able to do something good for the Earth or for others. Thanks for visiting!
I totally agree! We must pay it forward; so many people have less or nothing at all. It should be our responsibility to help others. I love volunteering at food pantries. I just moved so I am looking for one near by in my new city.
That’s right, we’re here to help each other out and not just let people suffer on their own. I think it’s awesome that you volunteer! It’s really one of the best ways to pay it forward. Thanks for the visit!
I am sooo jealous you live by the beach side! I love it when blogger’s using their influence to make the world a better place 🙂 I will take a bag with me next time I am going for a walk in the forecast area near me 🙂
We live here during the summer! I just love the beach! Aww, it’s even more touching when it works, I’m glad you will. Thanks for the visit!
I love this, and I love getting my kids involved as well so they can learn the importance of giving back at a young age. It is crazy how much garbage people leave on the beach.
That’s such a nice thing to do, to involve the kids. It’s important that they’re aware of what’s happening around them and how they can help. I try to remind my students of the same thing. Thanks for the visit!
I really hate how people dump litter anywhere but the bin! And especially on the beach – it really grinds my gears. It really isn’t that hard to carry your rubbish until you find a bin or take it home. We recently visited Japan and Singapore and did not see one bit of rubbish on the ground – it was magic!
I agree with you so much on that part! I always put my trash in a bag and throw it once there’s a proper garbage bin available! You can definitely see the difference when you travel to countries like Japan and Singapore. Thanks for the visit!
This is great! Picking up trash is definitely good to do and teach kids. Especially recycling. Also donating clothes and items that we no longer use.
That’s so true! It’s nice to spread kindness and show the kids how to help others as well.
Like you, the beach is my Happy place! I wish I could take a stroll and do the same each evening. But I love your other ideas. Just yesterday someone paid for my Starbucks and it made my day so I kept it going and paid for the person behind me. It is the little things that make a huge difference!
I love taking care of the our environment and spreading kindness as well. That’s a really lovely gesture, it goes a long way!
I love the idea of finding little ways to give back. We so often can get hung up on the big stuff. But little things can make a big difference. Thanks for the reminder!
That’s so true! We need a little kindness right now especially with what’s going on with the world! I hope these ideas help!
Oh I love this! Community service is my jam, which I’m aware is super weird haha. We live in FL so we go to help clean the beaches after every holiday. It’s so sad how trashed the beach is after holidays like Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
That’s so true! We live in FL during the summer and I just try to clean up as much as I can! We need to take better care of our environment.
I think it is so sad that people have no respect these days. Who just leaves boxers, and trash like that on the beach? Totally disgusting! Thank you for making a difference.
I agree with you so much, some people really have no care in the world. I hope I make a little difference at least.
Awesome idea! The beach is my happy place and it always saddens me to see so much trash lying around. Sometimes it happens by accident, but when people purposely leave stuff behind I wonder, what do you they think will happen to it? Thanks for keeping the beach the happiest place on earth for so many others!
It’s definitely my fave place to be and it pains me to see trash just laying around. I hope I help out by cleaning the beach!
Aww that’s actually such a great idea, to bring a garbage bag with you every time you go to the beach. I normally only bring a garbage bag when I bring food (so I can throw everything away) but seeing as they are so small and can really fit in anything, I might make that a daily thing!!
YES! That’s really the best idea, so we can help clean our beaches and keep it free from all the trash that people so carelessly throw there.
This is wonderful. We are regular beach goers and it always saddens us how much garbage people leave around.
I hope I do help by doing this! I just love the beach and it breaks my heart to see so dirty!
These are all wonderful ideas! I think we all need to work together to get our world looking better. Plus, it will help us keep our world as a safe place to live longer too.
Exactly, if we all give an effort to clean our environment, we can get rid of all the trash easier. That’s the goal, to keep it safe!
I love the idea of cleaning up the beach. Even if you don’t do a whole stroll, picking up random pieces of litter is a great habit too.
That’s so true, girl! A little goes a long way!
What a wonderful post and so important that you take the time to contribute to helping your community! We try to plan at least one day a month to do something that gives back, whether its through an organization or in support of a cause.
I try my best to help out! It’s awesome that you do this at least once a month, that’s all it takes! Little steps towards improvement.
This is such an uplifting list of great ways to give back. This is also a great reminder that money isn’t the only way to participate in charity. We may not have the money, but we can always spare the time.
good for you! must admit I wouldn’t have done it without gloves, ah, you are a good person and brave. BRAVO
It makes me so sad when I see trash on the floor and when I see peopel throwing something out instead of waiting to go to a trash can. I don’t understand why they can’t be more conscious and considerate of our planet. we only have one.
I love this so much! My kids just started noticing how much people liter and have been asking to go outside and clean it all up. I love that it makes them so mad they want to do something.
This is so awesome! I have been dreaming of living by the beach forever. I would love to do this and get my kids involved!
