It can be a very slippery slope between fabulous fall decor and a tacky fall explosion. Forget-about-it. As much as your impulses direct you, do-not-add-every-fall-themed-item-to-your-cart. To then add to your home. Show some restraint. Regroup. Think big (beautiful) picture. Think added detail… refrain from overload. Think style. Think chic fall decor. Adding to your everyday decor to offer a hint of the new season. Not an explosion of a Hallmark store. Goal: add finishing touches of the season to your home. Just the frosting on the cake… not the entire cake shop. Get it?
But the seasonal style struggle is real. Where to begin? Where to end? Where to find those coveted items to enhance the space, not engulf the space. Can be tricky. With a few simple strategies, you can handle styling your home to celebrate a season or holiday without taking away from your own vibe. Warm and inviting – in tune with the season – and with so much sass your friends will ask you how you did it.
Start small with your coffee table! Find a fabulous floral centerpiece in an unique pot (loving this one in a pumpkin!) to create the focal point. Then keep the rest of the table within your usual style. Maybe it includes a bowl with seashells you found this past summer, a stack of fashion books, a candle… whatever. But the point is – you only added ONE fall finishing touch to the look.
Another idea: Want to add in a little mix of pieces? Golden glitter pumpkins add some sparkle while not being too over the top “themey” with the season. Arrange those (or any other fall item) on a gold tray! The gold accents highlight the golden tones of Autumn and adds that classy sophistication. #FallDecorGoals.
Or…what about this? How about just adding in some hints of the colors of the season into your decor? Instead of incorporating a “SpoOoOOk-tacular” pillow with a ghost and cobwebs, add in a lush orange one. Same vibe, different effect.
What do you do to incorporate seasons/holidays into your home decor?
I am loving the pumpkin centerpiece. What better way to get your space looking chic for fall? #Interiorgoals!
You and I are one in the same… I am always weary of my decor (or fashion) being too tacky when it comes to seasonal stuff! Absolutely love what you did with little accents. Seasonal but stylish.
