Curious how to style a coffee table? It definitely can be a challenge to creatively come up with a chic arrangement that represents you while also reflecting the vibe you want in your space. For me, I vote for a mix of things. Balancing my personal style with classic ideals.
5 steps is all you need to know to style a coffee table. Easy. (P.S. – try to include a tray. The way it effortlessly organizes your items is golden.)
With these 5 simple suggestions, you can style your coffee table in a cinch!
FLOWERS
Flowers – fresh or fake… add that oomph of freshness to the look. Can’t afford fresh flowers every-single-day <#RealitiesOfLife>? Use amaze alternatives. Found gorgeous fake floral arrangement to do the trick! —> (linked at bottom of post! You’re welcome…)
FUNKY
Use interesting items (aka “funky”) from a local flea market or from vacation or an antique item from your fam. Adds a perfect balance of fun-funky-ness. Something for friends to ask, “what is thaaaat?” to get the conversation flowing. Confession: sometimes I have no clue what the item is… no big. Love that mystique.
BOOKS
The most love on my coffee table comes from my books. And why not? They give a hint into your style/personality/interests and add some dimension to the table. Maybe they are classics or just a new read. Whatever you choose, stick to only 3-4 (depending on their size) and stack them largest (on bottom) to smallest on top to keep it balanced. Remember: mix colorful covers or the same hues to catch the eye!
CANDLE
Candles = no-brainer. They look amazing…smell amazing… add amazing light to an evening. No better way to wind down than to light the candle(s) and let that glow enhance the vibe.
PERSONAL
This is all about you. What grounds you? A framed picture? A large seashell you discovered on vacation? What about something you found in your grandmother’s basement that she had forgotten all about? Choose carefully – and choose something that makes YOU feel fab on the inside. I just chose a beautiful vintage glass perfume bottle from my grandmother.

What do you want to update about your coffee table look OR what do you LOVE about it?
Oh how I love that coffee table and someday mine will be as cute, but right now it’s covered in Popsicle sticks, silly putty and matchbox cars. Sigh.
That coffee table is beautiful. I love decorating with books and personal items. We currently don’t have a coffee table but when we do I will definitely be revisiting these tips.
Pretty pretty! I love your colors, too. I have a teeny coffee table, so I stick with flowers and a great book. We often have our stockinged feet resting on the table, so I like to be sure there is room for that!
I love the beautiful roses! We don’t actually have a coffee table only because we don’t have the space for one. We have a book shelf that we use (does that count?) but I never thought to add fresh cut flowers to it.
Beautiful!
I love the way that tray really does act as a center for the table, and with the books and flowers, it looks so simple and sophisticated! One can never have too many candles around either.
I love that tray! We used to have a coffee table, and then my kids started climbing on it, and then it was re-purposed into a LEGO table – someday I will again have nice things!
Never really gave it much thought. i love designing things and CHen Sway has given me ideas. Thanks for sharing this. I will have a different outlook when i decorate.
That is a cute table. The flowers really add something special to it.
All I need is a coffee table 🙂 This is so cute and girly, can’t say that my boyfriend would like it but it would look adorable in our guest bedroom.
Your cheat sheet makes it easy for anyone to style a coffee table. Love the variety and style.
I love the colors you included on your coffee table! We got rid of our coffee table because it was just a clutter place.
I really like having a mix of interesting reads and items that showcase my style. I tend to keep my coffee table pretty bare too, especially when I had dog, since they can accidentally know things over with their tails or nosey noses.
What a pretty table. We got rid of our coffee table when we had kids for more room, but this is so pretty and makes me miss it!
Oh so cute, your pictures are so clear it’s gorgeous! Loving ya blog too.. let me know if you want to follow each other and keep in touch, i’m always looking for new blogger friends! x
