Looking for a chic upgrade to Happy Hour? Feeling like kicking off the evening like Italians do? I’ve got just the thing to make your cocktails more elegant and sophisticated. A new world of flavors to your drink. The apertivo. The spritz. The classic way to wind down an evening and do it with style.
Spritz: Italy’s Most Iconic Apertivo Cocktail, with Recipes by Talia Baiocchi & Leslie Pariseau is THE cocktail recipe book you will want to immediately to add to your bar cart to add that touch of amore to your decor. And to your enjoyment. This book not only offers dozens of recipes on the Italian spritz cocktail, but it shares with you the history of this iconic style of drink.
For each recipe in this book you get a gorgeous photograph of the final result (don’t you hate recipe books without photos? Previews of what I’m hoping to concoct are key!) along with easy to follow steps for each recipe. Most recipes use only a handful of ingredients.
The recipes for the spritz cocktails range from the classic (what I chose to start with) to the modern to the “cousins” – which offer a wider range of ingredients and techniques.
Cheers to why I adore this book:
- Stunning photos of each and every cocktail
- Brief history of each drink – where this originated from in Italy, why it’s a beloved drink and how Italians enjoy this specific apertivo
- Incredible variety of apertivo choices based on your liquor preferences
- The Apertivo Table: food suggestions to pair perfectly with your spritz cocktails
Trust this Italian girl. You need to add this book to your collection. Conosco i miei polli. Not Italian? Basically that means, “I know what I’m talking about.”
P.S.: Don’t ruin the spirited moment by using regular, boring glasses. Or boring serving trays. Or boring anything. <yawn> Time to upgrade to more spirited glassware for this type of apertivo! Add a “where did you get that?” tray for your appetizers. Find some vintage-inspired plates. All of this will go really well together…especially when you are being so fancy! Make these evenings pin-worthy! #Pinterest #hashtag
I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review but all opinions are my own.

I don’t drink much but even this I would be interested in trying. I drink quite a few mocktails however and wonder if I can make most of these recipes into a mocktail. 🙂
