Know what I love about this fall season? Boots. I am obsessed with boots and love the look of them paired with some skinny jeans and a big, chunky sweater. Ah, love.
So, what I’ve seen out on the streets (aka street style) is a fashionable boot sock that peeks out at the top of the boot. Nicely ornamented and slouchy, this look is so cute with boots. Loving this fab find from etsy!
And then I wondered if I could tackle making some myself. Although mine turned out a little less glam (gasp!) than the ones on the market, they still worked.
Want to know how I did it?
Pretty basic steps:
1. Buy socks or use some that you already own.
2. Find some of those extra buttons we all keep (but never use… ). Mix and match some of your faves to make an interesting look that is YOUR style.
3. Cut the feet off of your socks. You can do a simple hem on the bottom of the socks or you can use “No Frey” glue to keep it clean.
4. Sew on your buttons on the top.
Here is my final result! Whatcha think?
Now of course this was a crafty challenge for me – but fun too! I think it would be great to experiment further with this technique for added style and to improve my technique. ahem. Always up for a fashion challenge! However…I may just end up stopping at Kohls to buy my next pair.
One more idea… Have an old sweater? Cut off the cuffs and use those! Brilliant!
Ok, time to shop!

This is the coolest thing ever. All of my woolen socks have holes in them anyways. I’m solving two issues in one and recycling, too! My tree-hugging friends would be so proud! Thanks, Glam Karen!! 🙂
