Cider bourbon Cocktail time! Perfect for a cozy fall evening and appreciate the flavors of the season!
Cider Bourbon
Fab fall cocktail for cozy nights by the firepit!
- 2 cups Apple Cider
- a few sticks Cinnamon ((optional))
- 1 jigger Watershed Bourbon
- a few sprigs Fresh Thyme ((optional))
- a few Maraschino cherries ((optional))
- 1 (thin) peel Orange
Tip: Reducing high-sugar liquids to a more concentrated solution is a genius hack to make ANY beverage/sauce/meal a mil times more flavorful.
Reduce the cider by 3/4 of what its original volume by slowly simmering it on the stove at a medium-low heat. Include a cinnamon stick or any other fave fall spice (in its natural form) to the pot to bring out a hint of that flavoring.
After approximately 20-30 minutes, the cider should be reduced down to 1/4 of a cup.
Remove from stove to cool. (this can be made up to a week in advance and stored in any spill-proof container with lid in the refrigerator)
Create the cocktail!
First, add ice to the glass (I prefer small crushed pieces of ice)
Follow with a jigger of bourbon.
Next, pour in a jigger of the reduced cider (cooled).
Finally, add your choice of enhancements: thyme, additional cinnamon stick, a curly/twisty orange peel or Maraschino cherries!
Tip: Reducing high-sugar liquids to a more concentrated solution is a genius hack to make ANY beverage/sauce/meal a mil times more flavorful.

What’s your go-to fall cocktail? Think you’ll test out the Bourbon Cider recipe?
Watershed Distillery provided complimentary product for review for this post, but all opinions are my own.
It is finally starting to feel like fall down here in Florida, so I am very thankful for that. This looks like a delicious fall drink too, I love a good bourbon and so does my husband .
The weather definitely took its time! I think it’s awesome especially when you’re entertaining friends at home!
I love cocktails, I can’t wait to try out these recipes over the holiday season! Thanks for sharing!
You’re very much welcome! I’m sure you’re going to enjoy this one!
Hmmm, the perfect fall cocktail! Love when the flavors are apple cider and cinnamon. I know that we are having a fire this weekend in our fire pit, so this is now on the menu!
Totally perfect! I’m sure everyone’s going to enjoy it! Do share with us how it goes!
This sounds so good. Thyme in a drink is not something I would have thought to do. I think I have all these ingredients except the whiskey
It’s really good and it’s a must try! It’s also easy to make so it’s something you can easily put together when there are people over.
These fall cocktail ideas are so fun! These will be perfect for this weekend and all the Halloween parties, I’ll definitely be saving this post!
Thanks! It’s really worth making and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them and so will your guests!
That sounds like the perfect drink for the season. Especially when you have friends over. It’s easy to put together as well. I don’t think I’ve tried this brand of bourbon before! Really curious!
It’s an amazing brand that’s perfect for this cocktail recipe! You should totally give it a try!
Sounds like the perfect drink for a cozy night in! Love the presentation as well.
It’s definitely an amazing drink! You’re going to enjoy it for sure.
I love the addition of thyme. I grow thyme and am accutely aware of its flavor profile and it is a winner in this cocktail. I don’t think you are old fashioned at all. 😉
It’s the perfect ingredient for this cocktail recipe. Haha, thanks girl! Don’t forget to give this a try!
I used to make a mulled wine over Thanksgiving time that was really good. I’m not much of a drinker these days. But this drink looks really good. Love the maraschino cherry. Brings out the little kid in me.
That sounds great! This one’s a must try even if you don’t drink that much anymore. It’s definitely tasty! The cherries are a lovely addition.
Autumn is officially in the air here in NYC and I am so ready to drink a cocktail like this one! Thanks for the recipe info!
Cocktails definitely make this season more fun! I hope you try the recipe, it’s worth it.
My go-to cocktail is always Jack and Coke. I do love a scotch occasionally when it’s very cold out. I’m also a fan of cider so combining bourbon and cider is perfection. I may have to add this to my need to drink during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
Jack and coke is awesome as well. This one’s perfect for those dinner parties with friends. It’s definitely something you’ll enjoy this season! Give it a try!
This sounds like a great cocktail! I can’t have alcohol because of medication I take, but I will make a virgin version for myself soon.
It definitely is! A virgin version sounds great too.
This is absolutely the perfect fall combination of flavors! Before kids we had a regular cocktail night at home. I loved changing the flavors to match the season.
That’s SO true. Making cocktails that match the season makes it more enjoyable! Love that idea!
Yes, that is definitely something I can test out. I am putting together a list of cocktails to have on hand for the Thanksgiving weekend where we will be hosting more than 20. This looks easy and will make the list. Thank you for sharing.

That drink looks quite refreshing! Unfortunately, I can’t drink alcohol because of my pregnancy.
Well, it’s worth waiting a few months for. If you ever have friends over this season, this cocktail is definitely going to be a hit.
This bourbon recipe is definitely one that my husband would get behind! yay for fall recipes!
