Over the Knee Boots are a fashion staple that you want to incorporate into your fall (and winter) looks ASAP, if not sooner. OTK boots are everywhere. Major designers are showcasing their own version of this style of boot. From Chloe, Philip Lim, Stuart Weitzman and every-one-else-in-between, this boot is not leaving the fashion scene any time soon. <hooray!> Now the question is, what boots do you purchase to look chic and fashionable, while being flattering to your body?
Flattering Proportions: Your OTK boot should hit right above your knee. It’s a “Golden Ratio” #math thing.
Street Chic: So simple. Rest your jacket casually over your shoulders instead of keeping your arms inside. Done.
Classic and Casual is Key. Your other key wardrobe pieces should be trusted and true classics. Like a blazer, button down top, or vneck sweater. Keeps balance for your overall outfit. Think about it this way – focus on only one part of your look. With OTK boots, that’s the focus, so the rest should be the foundation.
Accentuate a long, lean line. Slim Fitted Pants such as; skinny jeans, slim fit pants, thicker/structured leggings are all go-to pieces. Allows the OTK boot be the center of attention. Who wants a bunched up pair of pants sloppily coming out of the top of your boots? #Fail. Talk about ruining the outfit and your stylish vibe.
Structured and Fitted Tops: The best bet to not get swallowed up or add on any extra pounds to your look is wearing a structured and (semi) fitted top. Avoid any billowy, flowy or voluminous tops when wearing OTK boots. It’s just-too-much. Tip: tuck in the front part of the shirt to casually cinch in your waist.
