‘Tis the Holiday Season! Tempted with buying “must-have” decor for holiday decorating? When “adding all to cart” isn’t an option because of small spaces, how do you decorate in style?
You CAN “Go Big” with holiday style in your home – even with “small” spaces. I’ve partnered with Soft Surroundings to show you how to glam up your small spaces with easy (and festive) ideas.
Twinkle Lights!
Twinkle lights are LIFE. What is it about the glistening glow of holiday lights? You need them in your holiday decor – and here’s how to use ’em especially in small spaces.
- ONLY use 1 accent color for lights (ex: white/clear LED lights). Colored, blinking lights are just “too much” for a small space to handle.
- Use lights as a centerpiece or accent.
- Remote controlled and battery operate lights are the ones you want.
- Lights in a glass container or on a tray are effortless yet look modern.
- Remote controlled and battery operate lights are the ones you want.
Accent Color
A stylist’s tip is to use 1 accent color. Why? It most elegantly adds in hints of the holiday to your space.
- Flowers (within the accent color) makes your holiday atmosphere more organic and natural.
- Functional pieces are the way to go! They enhance the look of the season while also being useful.
- Toss in a throw pillow. Just one pillow really pulls the accent color together.
Tree Size
Small trees (real or artificial) keeps the fa-la-la and decking the halls strong! Don’t miss out…
- No room for even a tiny tree? Use a branch in a more substantial vase to preserve the tree idea while working within your space.
- Keep the ornaments simple (if you decide to use them) for feng shui and balance.
- Instead of a tree skirt, wrap the bottom of the tree in a plush blanket instead!
Cozy Decor
Small spaces = limited storage. More holiday items (that you’ll have no place to store for next year) doesn’t make sense with your budget or space. Buy items for long-term use/decor.
- Faux fur is cozy chic while also being seasonal.
- Pillows are so inviting on a couch during cold weather.
- Don’t forget a faux fur blanket/throw to complete the snuggle factor!
Wreaths
How about hanging items to add to your holiday decorating? Use the space you have in new ways.
- Wreaths are not just for doors. Hang on a shelf or bookcase or bar cart.
- Small wreaths hanging on the back of chairs is modern style.
- Windows can easily welcome a wreath or a bow or a branch.
Let it snow…and stay cozy while keeping your small spaces chic!
Thanks for stopping by… Happy holiday decorating!
*Loved partnering with Soft Surroundings for this post, but as always all opinions are my own.
Love the idea of wrapping a blanket in place of a tree skirt!
Thanks, Jacqleenie! Isnt that a cozy idea? Thanks for stopping by and for your support!! π
These are all really cute ideas! I love those pillows to add a little Christmas to the bedroom. I really love the idea of the lights under the cloche. I think I’m gonna pick up a strand at the store while I’m out today. I have the perfect little spot for them.
TOTALLY! Love adding small elements to the room to make it more part of the theme I’m going for. I love that too! Tell me how it goes!
I love all the coziness that you brought to your space. The hanging pinecones are a wonderful idea!
Glad you love it, girl! That’s one of my faves, it’s so easy but also really glam!
I love all of this decor. These pictures definitely put me in the Christmas spirit – such lovely pieces and I think my favorites are those adorable throw pillow. How cute?!
Thank you so much! There’s nothing like decorating to get you excited for Christmas! Love those too! SUPER adorable!
These are amazing and festive ideas! Sure to put anyone, including the Scrooge’s in your family in the holiday spirit!
It sure is! Glad you think the same. Totally meant to put anyone in a holiday mood! I just love Christmas!
My space is actually pretty open, but we still usually focus on one color every year. We’ve been going with blue the past few years, so I’m excited to be more Christmassy with red this year!
Love the blue tones for Christmas as well. Red is just more traditional and it’s easy to pair with other colors too. I’d love to see how you decorate for this year! Thanks for the visit!
You have so many great decorating ideas here. I love the twinkle light idea -I think it is a great way to add some flair to any space.
I hope you pick up a couple of my ideas! That’s so true! It’s one of my faves!
I love all the tips that you have here! To be honest, choosing one accent color is the best way to go especially when it comes to decorating for the Holidays! It’s really elegant and sophisticated.
Thank you! That’s right, it’s good to stick to one color, it’s not only more elegant but it’s makes it easier to decorate as well.
We hav e a small space too and as much as I want to go grand with the decorating, it’s just not possible. I love how simple and elegant this all looks. And those pinecones are so pretty!
The key is simplicity! I love that you liked how I decorated! I hope you pick up some ideas from the post! Those pine cones are one of my faves!
I love everything you picked out. The pillows are adorable. Your room looks fabulous.
Thank you so much! Love those! Hope you pick up a decorating idea or two!
I also have a small space and decorating is tough. Love some of these ideas and those pinecones are beautiful.
I hope my tips help you with your Christmas decorating! I really love how pretty those are as well.
Sweet decor with enough holiday charm to satisfy even me! π€£. Love the pillows and the blanket as a tree skirt. Have to say though, colored lights rock any space! (Says a Charlie Brown fanatic!) π
That’s definitely a compliment! Thank you! Yes the pillows and the skirt and everything else just goes so well together! Thanks for the visit, girl!
Our space is so small and decorating for Holidays has been very challenging for me. Thanks for this!
I hope this post of mine helps you out with that! Thanks for the visit, hun!
These are super cute ideas. It can be stressful trying to decorate small spaces. I know I love to decorate but hate that feeling of clutter.
Thank you! It doesn’t have to be stressful, hope you get some ideas from my post! Thanks for the visit!
I like keeping my decor simple and chic. Adding little touches of color, like those candles or pillows is a nice way to keep things festive and cozy.
Exactly! I think that’s the best way to go. It doesn’t have to be packed with colors and all that, simplicity is key!
I really like the wreathes in the window. Our blinds are down all the time because of a seriously barky dog, but I can probably hang them on the wall.
Oh, I love that too! Yes, the wall would be a lovely alternative for that as well!
These are all such great ideas for decorating for the Christmas! I love holiday decorating and those pillows are so cute!
Thank you so much! I love decorating for the Holidays! It’s so exciting!
Small space but a lot of big ideas. I love the way you decorate because you keep the traditional in a more updated or different way, so nice.
Thank you so much! I love how it all turned out too! It’s definitely more updated, that’s what I was going for!
I love these ideas. We are currently living in a small space, and I have been looking for some great ideas for the holidays!
I hope you get some awesome ideas from my post! It’s really fun to decorate no matter how big or small your space is!
I love this! I am moving into a studio next week so this is perfect for me
Glad to help out! Hope you picked up some fun decorating tips and ideas from me!
I love some of the ideas you have come up with here. I would have never thought of using lights as a centerpiece like that.
Thank you! It’s really one of my faves and it’s easy to recreate!
Great tips! Adding some red to a space that normally doesn’t use that color always gives it a festive feel!
Thanks! Definitely! Red is the accent color I picked because it’s perfect for the season! Definitely a stunner!
These are such subtle and classy ideas for decorating around the holidays. I think less is more and some of these are beautiful and elegant.
That’s definitely my goal! The more simple the more stunning it’s going to be!
