While my hair stylist (aka hair-gician), Ashley Varcelli-New, is on maternity leave being the cutest mommy (ever!) to her (oh-my-beautiful-ness) angel baby girl… my hair lucked out with Nicole. A Hair-therapist at this Salon Lofts hair salon.

5 Knowledgeable Insights (from Nicole)
What makes Nicole such an in-demand stylist in Cleveland? She knows things, people…
- Secret Tool: To keep your color clean and fresh the longest in between salon visits use THIS shower head.
- Curly Hair Game Changer: These rinses. Why? Cleanses hair, removes impurities (without stripping the natural oils) AND takes out frizz. Even the BEST shampoo will rough up your cuticle. THIS gives you the PERFECT curl with no frizz, no damage. Predictable every-single-time.
- The Dryer Difference: Is your blow-dryer ionic with a tourmaline-boosted ceramic system? Why? Traditional driers give off a lot of positive ions (that’s bad). You want negative ions to break down water droplets more quickly (that’s good -less damage & more shine). THIS dryer is the best of the best… (although a tad pricey, sooooo worth it)
- Air Dry Hair? Nope. Actually causes MORE damage if you air dry then flat iron or curl because the cuticle hasn’t had that first step of heat protection. And – Make sure your hair is COMPLETELY dry (aka not cold to the touch) when the blow-out is done.
- Nozzle or Not? ALWAYS use a nozzle to concentrate air in 1 place (to allow the cuticle to lay smoothly) instead of blowing your hair all around in a mil different directions.
Nicole’s Unique Approach to YOUR Hair…
No need to fly to California or be a celeb to get the TOP hair treatments. Nicole is the person to see for….
- Getting the HEALTHIEST Hair of your Life. Have you tried hair vitamins like Viviscal but it’s just not happening? Nicole knows how to grow your hair out and get it at its HEALTHIEST with her strategies…
- Using the 1 Keratin Treatment that ACTUALLY works: Certain keratin treatments actually can damage your hair and do MORE damage (whaaaat?)… and most salons use them. BUT – the one that Nicole uses keeps your hair super healthy, and it costs $100 less than a typical Keratin treatment at other salons. Her hair couldnt grow… but THIS did the trick.
- Bringing Balayage in Only 1 Session! Ever hear your stylist say that they can’t do balayage in 1 sesssion…that it will take a couple of times to mirror that Pinterest perfect photo? Ugh. Who wants to pay for MANY trips to the salon and wait for that gorge grown out balayage look? No thanks. BUT, Nicole can get you there in 1 session with NO damage. How? The way she does it is uses different hair strategies (taught to her at her recent training at Nine Zero One in LA, California) to create a graduated, natural-looking effect in no time!

A good hair stylist is hard to find, so I am so happy for you that you have someone so amazing over there. I finally found someone here in Boston that I love and she is the only person I trust with my hair 🙂
That’s so true! Took me years to find someone who’ll help me take better care of my hair! And I just love how it’s being treated now!
I’ve never tried apple cider vinegar. I’ll have to check it out. It’s always fun learning new hair tricks. We women invest so much of ourselves into our hair. I think I feel best when my hair looks amazing.
These hair tricks are from an expert so they’re reliable! Apple cider vinegar has so many benefits! I feel confident when my hair looks amazing too!

Thank you! Glad you like the tips! I definitely have the best hairdresser, that’s for sure!
These are interesting tips. I’ve got the crazy curly hair, and I live in the humid south, so I’m always happy to try something new to try and keep it contained!
Hope these tips help! It’s crazy how the weather affects our hair so much!
I haven’t had my hair done in probably 2 years ( terrible I know) and since having my son 11 months ago I have been having PP hair loss like crazy! I need to go get my hair cut and worked on since I really think it will help.
I’m sure finding the right hairdresser to address your concerns will improve your hair’s health by a magnitude!
I’m not into hair vitamins but I hate it when my hair looks dry. Thanks for sharing these tips and for reminding me to care of my hair and getthe right treatment. I’ll consider these tips!
I hope these help! It’s really important that we take good care of our health and finding the right hair dresser is part of that!
Your hair looks so amazing and the color is perfect, I want that exact style. I did not know air drying is actually bad for the hair, I will remember that for the next time.
Thank you so much! I was taken aback with air drying my hair as well! It’s so nice to get advice from experts.
OH wow, gorgeous hair, I’m so jealous. I really love the color too. Makes me wish my hair was long again but menopause is a killer with hot sweats lol. Healthy looking hair is reallysexy.
Thank you! I am loving my hair as well. I bet with the right hairdresser, you can finally grow your hair back like you want it! That’s so true, I love making sure my hair is healthy.
It took me forever to find my awesome hair stylist. I had to go through some pretty bad ones to get to where I’m at now, but she is great! I completely trust my color in her hands!
It took me a while too! I’m glad I finally have a hairstylist that takes very good care of my hair!
Your hair looks amazing! I did not now air drying then flat ironing causes more damage! Note to self. I will start blow drying now 🙂
Thank you so much! I know, I was surprised as well, but that’s another lesson learned.
I’m intrigued by the Keratin treatment that won’t damage your hair!! My hair has changed so much over the years, I’m really not sure what to do with it anymore and/or what it is. It used to be curly, now it’s a mixture of wavy, curly and bone straight. LOL Wish I was near so I could see your new girl!!
It’s an awesome treatment that will definitely treat your hair better than what’s used in most salons! I think our hair changes because of the treatments, thank God we have hairstylists like Nicole!
Wow they’re all such great tips! I have crazy thick hair so I’m always looking for good hair care tips to make it healthy. I really want to try the shower head she mentioned too!
I hope these tips help! That shower head is definitely worth checking out!
I haven’t been able to find a good hair stylist in years and it makes me so sad!! Your hair always looks absolutely amazing and I will use some of these tips so try and keep mine in better shape!
I used to feel that way too! I hope all of these tips help! Thanks for the visit!
My hair requires so much more maintenance since I dyed it blond. I love it, but man, the maintenance is high!
Dyeing and other treatments can take a toll on our hair and we have to pay more attention to it afterwards, I do hope that these tips help make your life easier though!
Now this is awesome! I love the tips that you shared, I cannot believe that air drying can damage our hair! Had I known that I would have taken advantage of the hair dryer more instead of being so afraid to use it!
I hope the tips, help! I was surprised as well, all this time I could have just used my hair dryer! Thanks for the visit!
I am so interested in that shower head. My color is the single most expensive beauty treatment I indulge in, so I would love for it to last longer.
That shower head is awesome! I hope the tips help with making your hair color last! Thanks for the visit, hun!
Some great tips here. I’m guilty of air drying my hair and then straightening the next day, more due to time than anything else. It does definitely make a difference and I know my stylist always says to Blow dry first.
Glad you like the tips! That could definitely take a toll on our hair, it’s better to blow dry than to air dry. Thanks for the visit!
I don’t color my hair that often but thinking about getting high lights. Love your hair though. Looks so glamorous.
Highlights are great too! Thanks so much, Nicole takes good care of my hair.
A good stylist and good hair care make all the difference in the world. I used to have a 1950’s beauty guide book with all sorts of DIY hair rinses in it.
That SO true! That sounds like a great book! I’m sure there’s plenty to learn from it!
You are beyond lucky to find such an amazing hair-gician!!! Love these tips. I don’t have color treated hair, but I found a lot of these tips to be helpful.
I am, indeed! Glad you love ’em and I hope they help! Thanks for the visit, girl!
Great tips and tricks! A good head of hair can make or break you, it truly makes a difference in the way you look and the way you feel about yourself. I had problems with thin hair and hair loss after I had my son and I was miserable. It took awhile to get mine back to healthy and thick agian
I agree with you on that. Our hair can make us feel confident or it can make us feel insecure. I hope these tips help you take better care of your hair!
That is so interesting that it’s better to not air-dry. I do have quite an expensive blow dryer and now will always make sure to use the nozzle with it.
It’s definitely better to take advantage of that hair dryer! I’m sure you’re going to love it even more. Thanks for the visit!
Can she please come to England so she can sort my wild frizzy hair out?! Lol I like the sound of the curly hair game changer as my hair definitely needs a makeover! And she is so pretty too what a babe!
She’s amazing isn’t she? I agree, she’s also very pretty! Here’s to hoping that one day she gets to work on your hair!
Some great tips you have! Unfortunately, I was one of the ones where Keratin totally ruined my hair in the past but I’m a loyal Drybar gal and go almost every week. Worth it!
It’s nice that you got to have your hair treated after that experience. Drybar? WOW! It’s definitely worth it.
I love your bright blonde! It looks so healthy and nice when you where it straight.
I love it too! Thank you! That’s all because of Nicole who takes good care of it.
The not air drying hair is something I learned in cosmetology school myself. Who would have thought it could be so damaging to your hair?
I know, right! I never thought that it could but now I’m never going to do it!
I had no idea letting your hair air dry before styling could cause damage. I usually let my dry a little before I take the blow dryer to it, but sometimes I do use the curling iron after it is fully dry. Will have to re-think that now.
Yeah, I was surprised to learn about that as well but it does make sense because of the weather. I hope you come up with a routine that works for you!
I believe that Keratin gets a bad rap, but for her to say it’s worked, along with several of my good girlfriends I think it might be time to try it out. Your hair looks beautiful!
Keratin is great if you find the right person to do it on your hair, not to mention the right procedure as well. Nicole definitely puts our hair’s health first. I hope you get to try keratin someday soon! Thanks for the visit!
I had no idea about the air drying of hair! This was such an interesting post.
I’ve just recently started to use the nozzle on my hair dryer when I blow my hair out. It does make a difference in concentrating the heat to each section.
Hi Karen,
Thank you for sharing these valuable hair hacks to get the healthiest hair ever. I have just read them before the end of 2017 and already have some ideas for healthy tresses in 2018 🙂 Have you tried Viviscal hair supplements? What is your feedback? I’d appreciate it!
Cheers,
Annie
