Duende. The mysterious power of art to move a person. To inspire, calm, or uplift. Design a home you love with a vibe to attract your (fam) tribe. Art is THE best way, in your home, to showcase you. And home is where the story begins… so why not show it off with a gallery wall? Every picture tells a story. Now let’s see how to decorate your home spaces and get it done!
What’s Your Story?
Yes, you can do a monochromatic theme (all grey photos) or a theme (nature, ocean, palm leaves) but what is the most unique is telling your OWN story. Display photos, artwork, vintage pieces, old invitations, calendar pages, flea market finds and other crazy cool pieces. What do YOU love that represent YOU?
Size Matters…
Mix it up a bit and play with (small, medium, large) sizes for your space. Know what that variety does? Keeps the eyes moving all around your art.
Frame It!
Another part just as important as the art in a gallery wall are the frames. Not only do frames, well…. FRAME…. your art, but they complete the look. Finishes up the space in a chic way. Looks professional and expensive. And – does not need to cost a lot. What style speaks to you? Classic white frames, vintage frames, distressed or flea market types of frames? Whatever it is, try to stick with that theme for the majority of your art. Another option (if you are frame challenged) is to install long wall shelving units to simply lean your framed art on. Bonus: lets you quickly change out art on a whim!
Floor It!
Arrangement of your gallery wall art can range from centered, staggered, square and your job is to have FUN with it. But before you start bang-bang-banging in nails on the wall like a #boss, first try out the layout on the floor. Space them out and move them around until you love the arrangement. Next – take a quick photo of the floor layout (from above if you can) to see how it looks from a different angle. Do you love? Make your wall happy – hang ’em up!
Find It!
Bumming out because you don’t have a large wall to create a gorgeous gallery? Welp, where in the rules does it say you need a large space? Fill a niche in a small space with art! Think end of a hallway, corner space, kitchen nook or bathroom.
Emily Roggenburk Photography
Just in case no one told you about Emily’s photographs, HERE they are! Celebratory photographs taken from the sky to capture city events (yasssss Cleveland Cavaliers Championship Parade! #ThisisCLE!) or vivid images that capture the essence of a location are the hallmark of Emily’s photographs. The Greek Isles, Oregon Coast , Chicago Lakefront, Cleveland, Northern California and more are in Emily’s current collection for purchase. Seriously stunning…
Remember when I gushed all about Emily’s photography skills HERE? Since then she has expanded her work and her services. Besides photos, Emily sells apparel, gifts and lettering prints here. Her photography services include private photography sessions, product photography, and various styling and design services. Oh – and she also offers a custom HELICOPTER ride with photo shoot. Ya know… no big deal. Just a helicopter photo shoot. <whaaaaaa?!>
Happily added Emily’s Cleveland balloons photograph to my gallery…
Today is a GOOD DAY to start your gallery wall! Where will you start? What photos? What room?
*Loved working with my fab friend, Emily Roggenburk, for this post – but as always all opinions are my own. xx

Great post! Jack and I are always discussing (to be read disagreeing) about where and how to hang artwork. I’m excited to have him read this post!
And I have to laugh because the time stamp change reflects EST and I just about lost my mind when I read “8:40am” and reminded myself I’m not late; it’s 7:40am here! See I need to incorporate this Duende to calm me!!
