So, it’s not every day that you get to test out recipes for a major chef. In fact, not sure when this amazing opportunity ever happens. But it did. For me. And I got to test out two recipes for the incredibly talented and well-known famous chef Douglas Katz. #PinchMe
You know Chef Katz from his restaurant, Fire, at Square in Cleveland. Silly to not have a reservation here because its always filled with happy (and hungry) individuals. The homemade cinnamon rolls and the homemade pickles are among my favorites. Remember how I raved about this restaurant here? You also know Chef Katz from the Katz Club Diner and his partnership at Provenance at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Now you will know him for the Fire Spice Company.
Fire Spice Company creates (aka grinds and prepares in house) a variety of handcrafted spice mixes and recipes to accompany those spices. I cook almost daily but have no clue how to use spices properly. If you’re like me, this new feature from Chef Katz is a dream come true. The spices are carefully hand-crafted and come with a recipe to wow your taste buds. Specially curated spices plus a recipe from a master chef? Sold.
Here’s what I also adore: The freshly toasted spice blends and recipes are presented in a unique and beautiful gift box. Presentation.
Fire Spice Company gives you all the key ingredients to prepare an aromatic and delicious cooking and dining experience. Translation? Your cooking in the kitchen just got a major upgrade.
I was one of several testers for the Fire Spice Company‘s spices before they hit the public. Based on the brrrrrr cold Cleveland weather, I opted for the chili spices (no brainer) and the mulled spices for a delicious batch of mulled wine. Want to join?
Simply by adding the spice kit, some orange zest and wine to a pot, I was able to create the most smooth and delicious mulled wine in only one hour!
While the wine was mulling on the stove, I was able to start the chili. With easy to follow directions along with the chili seasonings packet and a basic chili ingredients list for the grocery store, I was ready to begin!
Prep time took about an hour to get ready and the cooking/simmering of the meal took about another hour. Overall, the quickest and BEST tasting chili we’ve ever had. My husband was blown away!
I am SO excited for these seasoning packets to be open for the public (which happens so soon!) and ready to purchase! From what I’ve seen by testing out two of these seasoning packets, I am SOLD. Can’t wait to try out the other seasonings and the recipes that accompany them. I’m really curious about the shrimp and chicken recipes! I bet they are equally as yummy! Oh – and be sure to sign up for the monthly seasoning packet subscription that will be available!
Check out Fire Spice Company HERE and be ready to become a master chef in your own kitchen thanks to these spices and recipes!

How cool is that?! Anything to make my life easier, and I’m with you, when it comes to spices I always draw a blank and tend to use the same ones over and over, and that’s if a recipe calls for it!
So cool!! Looks like the wine and meal paired well! I’ll have to keep an eye out for these now!

Yum! I’m making the spice cake this weekend! Just had dinner at Fire last weekend. It’s been one of our favorite spots in Cleveland for years. I’m thrilled Doug is beginning this new venture. Can’t wait to try the chili.
This sounds amazing! I want to test out foods for a chef! Very cool that you can take these home to use in your own kitchen!
What a fun experience! The fact that I’m starving for dinner is making me extra jealous of you right now. Haha. And bonus that you were able to take it home with you. Glad you had a good time!

I have often wanted to take a class on just using spices because I too am lacking in the spice knowledge department! I have many spices but rarely use a variety outside of the basics.

How fun. I loved when Superhubby and I went to a cooking class with an amazing chef. That mulled wine and chili look amazing. I need to get myself back to Cleveland so I can try out Fire & Fire Spice Company!

Love this! My kids are convinced I have the biggest spice collection. In. The. World.
What an awesome idea! I love mulled wine, my mom usually makes it around Christmas, but I haven’t made it before. And you can never go wrong with chili in my book! Yum!
I need these in my life. Trying to eat healthy makes you really pay attention to the seasonings that you’re adding. This is a monthly subscription that I’m going to check out!
Wow sounds like an awesome idea! A good mulled cider is just the thing for this cold weather 🙂

This sounds like a great idea. I love to cook using different spices and I’m looking forward to try their seasoning packets.
I am all about finding new and fantastic spice combinations! I am going to have to look into this one more!
These sound like great spice combinations! It would really cut back on the time of measuring out everything separately. And how cool that you got to try out something before it hit the shelves!
I can’t wait to visit this town & area because you’ve basically compiled a list of amazing things I’ll have to do! xx adaatude.com
