It’s fall, y’all! Time for fall decorating ideas that are chic – NOT SPOOKtacular. Because the fall decor seasonal style struggle is real. How to begin? And, how to end (most importantly)? Where to find those coveted fall items to enhance the space, not engulf the space.
Please. Just Don’t…
- Do-not-add-every-fall-themed-item-to-your-cart. To then add to your home.
- Hold yourself back from thematic overload.
- Think style.
- Think chic with your fall decor.
- Your home should NOT be an explosion of the Halloween section from a Hallmark store.
GOAL: add finishing touches of the season to your home. Just the frosting on the cake… not the entire cake shop. Get it?
Fall Decor Do’s…
- Warm and inviting – in tune with the season (not the theme of the season)
- Start small (ex: with your coffee table)
- Create a focal point – not a haunted house.
- Keep the fall deco within your usual style.
Try This…
- Floral centerpiece in an unique pot (or pumpkin!)
- A (black or orange or red) bowl brings out the seasons colors. Use that – then keep with YOUR normal decor by adding in seashells you found this past summer. Fall with summer memories…
- A tray. On an orange or golden tray (again – to reflect the flecks of color of the season), add things to the tray that fit your style – fashion books, a candle…flea market find.
- Golden glitter pumpkins! Adds sparkle while not being too over the top “themey” with the season.
What’s the the point? – add reflections of the season (don’t be literal with decor. Skip ghosts, skulls, spiders…) to your fall style.
I have that same tiny little brown pumpkin that you have, but I also got every other different one they had in the bin, so now I have about a dozen different ones…and I love that they were only 98 cents each 🙂
They’re so affordable and pretty! It’s really nice to use them for decorating. I’m enjoying this season!
I love those little pumpkins, but I’m pretty sure my toddler would consider them a ball and throw them around. Maybe just one bigger decoration on my dining room table for me. 🙂
That’s still cute though! But very much understood. I just love that these are stylish and affordable!
I love those pumpkins, they are adorable! I just started my decorating and got a good amount of stuff from the Dollar Tree. I don’t like spending a ton on seasonal decor, but still want it to look cute.
Me too, it’s really nice to be able to decorate the house without breaking the bank. I definitely love the pumpkins!
Love the sophisticated feel! The orange pillows and sparkly pumpkins are my favorites.
You’ll have to come over sometime and see them in person! Thanks for the love – MUCH appreciated friend!! muah!
Love fall decor! Leaves and pumpkins for fall and then Halloween decor comes out when October comes around. Then pull out my fall/harvest decor for Thanksgiving.
Thank you! It’s really nice to decorate for Fall. I just love all the colors and the decorations available to us.
So very cute! I just love those throw pillows. I usually just do pumpkins on the porch. Pretty boring.
It’s nice to add some Fall elements and colors in the house during this season! I just love it. Pumpkins on the porch aren’t boring at all!
I really love the small touches that you made. I love the orange pillows, and those glittered pumpkins are great, without being tacky!
I’m glad you love the decor! They’re so affordable too which I like! The pumpkins are adorable!
I never really decorate my home with the seasons. But this post totally makes me want to. I love the cute little centerpieces. Now just to keep the cats from knocking them off the table.
It would be nice to add even just a little decoration. Glad you love ’em! I can relate to the cats part, lol!
Oh my those glitter pumpkins are just so cute! I wish we got into fall decorating and the pumpkin trend like Americans do here in Australia! Pumpkin spice isn’t a thing and where I live we don’t even get a true fall because there’s no foliage… I’ll just have to come visit you guys!
It’s amazing! We celebrate on our own little way and it’s okay to decorate even just a little. It would be nice if you visited though! I’m sure you’ll love it here!
I have some awesome fall pieces but I still have to do the haunted house and ghosts for my kids. They love it. I save my adult decorations for our dining room. It makes me so happy.
The haunted house idea is pretty cool, it’s definitely a hit with the kids! I love decorating as well, it’s so fun and relaxing!
I like that you say to enhance, not engulf. That’s tricky with kids who want all the spooky. But I love to go with fall colors because I can put them up in September and ride them through until November before having to take them down again. 🙂
It’s a good addition to the decorations that you have and just put a little more of the scary stuff to last you for the Halloween and to keep the kids happy as well. These are meant for the entire season!
I have been seeing some really great items at Walmart and Target (hello, dollar spot!). I am also loving the glitter trend for Fall. So many cute things! I need more places to put Fall decor.
Glitter always makes things better! Especially decor! These pumpkins are super adorable!
Honestly, I don’t change my decor each season. Over the past few years I have bought a few things to use at Thanksgiving because everyone comes here. I love your suggestion of start small and not have to follow every trend. I think you should pick a few things you love and go from there. Even just changing out pillows with darker colors would work, or adding a few pumpkin touches or even florals is a great idea.
That’s a really good tip, to just get things you love and go from there. That’s how I usually decorate. There’s no need for trends or anything. A little goes a long way, for sure.
I love those bright orange pillows! These are some great decorating ideas. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love them too! Thanks, I hope these help when you’re decorating for the season!
A little can go a long way. Simple and elegant. I love the sparkly pumpkins!
That’s right! Thanks, I love them too! They’re adorable!
I have to start small. Maybe decorate some coffee tables now that my kids are all old enough to not play with everything.
Totally, pick up pieces that you’re going to love and start from there! I hope you have fun decorating!
Loving all of these ideas. I am even going to use these for my office
Thank you! That’s going to be perfect! A little decoration in the office is always a good idea.
I love how you decorated! It’s so simple and chic. I have been wanting to pull out my fall/halloween decor, but it’s been crazy hot here in New Jersey the last week or 2!
Thank you! It’s really fun to decorate for the season especially when you have these adorable decor! I think it’s okay to add a little color in your home, just to make it feel like Fall at least.
Oh for adorable! I love fall decorating! This is so darn cute! I love the pumpkin!
The pumpkins are adorable, aren’t they? I love decorating for the season!
I love fall decor! Your decor was cute but not over the top. Very practical ideas!
I like decorating for Fall as well. Thanks! I like them too!
I’m going to try to think small when it comes to my decorating from now on. I always overthink everything and think the whole house instead of one small area at a time.
The less stressful it is, the better. It’s good to start small! Have fun decorating!
I really love your decor! Its great to be classy rather than tacky and trashy. You want things to look good in your home and of course match what you already have.
Thank you! That’s so true! That’s definitely the best way to go.
I love the glittered pumpkins! We are moving today and I can’t wait to decorate for fall!
Me too! I hope you have a lot of fun decorating!
If I could I would be making DIY fall decorations from scratch or art materials found at home to save money and it’s fun too. I love the pumpkins with glitters and the floral centerpiece inside a pumpkin.
I would too! But I barely have time for that so I really like discovering decorations that are cute and affordable. These are really lovely!
