It’s a Foodie Friday… so I’m throwing a curve ball at ya! Not your typical Foodie post, but something that you will appreciate.
To date, I think I have done about a dozen detox programs. They’re effective for adults <insert stomach grumbles>. They do their job … for the moment. Then I am back to my regular habits and that detox is a distant memory. Let’s be honest – detoxes are FAB to get rid of bad toxins, but can test your endurance, right? I mean, does anyone get PSYCHED to do a detox?
Well… Everyday Detox by Megan Gilmore takes us past the typical detox routine and more into a lifestyle routine. THIS is a detox I can do! Did you SEE the cover of this book? YUM. The book shows you how to review food labels. That means normal-ish food to eat that tastes great and is good for you!
This strawberry-basil blast. YUM. SO fresh and filling and yummy! LOVING this type of detox. It gets to the root of WHY we detox but does it in a SUPER food-friendly way. Learning how to read labels, knowing what works for your body and understanding WHY it’s crazy important to make smart food choices.
The author, Megan, wasn’t raised as a healthy eater. Megan credits her former junk food habits—and a penchant for baking—in helping her re-create healthy favorites using whole-foods ingredients, without sacrificing taste or texture.
Grab a copy for yourself… PERFECT to add at least one meal from this unique cookbook a week to your routine! You will find yourself LOVING this detox!
I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review but all opinions are my own.
My boyfriend and I have been trying to do a cleanse or a detox for months but every time we start we always get too hungry and cheat on it. We aren’t super unhealthy eaters to begin with but we wanted to try and cut out the cracker snacking and switching to juices and whatnot, this one sounds like it might actually work! Thanks for sharing!
p.s.
It’s not even 10 am and now I want pizza! ha

The hunger factor is terrible… that’s why I love this new way of thinking about detox. Detoxing as a lifestyle, not a quick fix! 🙂
Great post! Those pictures make me hungry!! Haha. I love eating clean! <3

The recipes are yummy – you will love this book.
I’ve never done a cleanse or a detox before, because I know that once it’s done, any positive effects will be forgotten. I do however, like the idea of keeping some of the habits all the time!

Its really delish – just strawberries and basil and other REAL food items. No powders or anything artificial. Love the new way to think about detox.

I’ve been doing a tea-tox and I have no idea how I feel about those JUST yet b/c it makes me feel sickly (stomach) and then I feel better but I don’t know if it’s worth it to me! I’d rather just have a smoothie a day and then eat whatever the heck I want! xx, adaatude.com
I tried to do the Conscious Cleanse and failed miserably! I feel like maybe I should give detoxing another time. The only thing that’s hard for me is the coffee haha
Wow that sounds delicious! I need to try it! Thanks for sharing!!

This seems like a smart detox compared to most that just throw you in for a quick change instead of a lifestyle change to help you make better choices!
Yum! This looks awesome! I’m with you on detoxing, then returning to my old habits, so this book intrigues me…I’ll definitely have to take a closer look :). Thanks!
I totally need to check this book out!! How fantastic! I love finding new healthy living reads!
