When I saw this necklace from one of my favorite stores…. I knew I needed it. I mean… the golden glow of this necklace is stunning.
But ouch. That price. NOT in my budget right now – especially during the holidays when my credit card seems to be on fire.
Plan B: Make my OWN Druzy necklace from a Darby Smart kit (kit cost is $29 or just $19 now with code GLAM10) Boom.
Here’s MY homemade version:
How’d I do it? Simple. I ordered a Darby Smart kit and got to work.
Here is what was in my Darby Smart Druzy box:
My tip: Buy a cheap small paintbrush to brush on the Mod Podge. Not included in the kit, but needed.
Step 1: Decide WHICH glittery color(s) you want to use. I made 2 necklaces (2 come in the kit along with earrings) and for one of my necklaces I combined blue and gold.
Step 2: Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to your necklace base. Use that paintbrush I suggested to spread the Mod Podge evenly out.
Step 3: Sprinkle in an ample amount of glitter (fun part, in my opinion!)
Step 4: Apply another thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the glitter – use the paintbrush to move the Mod Podge evenly over surface. It’s OK if the glitter gets all mixed into the Mod Podge. It dries clear…
Step 5: Allow to dry. I waited overnight and it was fine.
Step 6: Wear your creation!
