It’s (almost) Fall, y’all! Is your home ready for fall decor? Are you?
One step closer to PSL overload. But only 3 steps to make the seasonal decor your own. On an elevated level. Because it’s in YOUR style versus a cookie-cutter style with a “one style fits all.” Fall decor for the home has lots-O-personalized-style-options. From farmhouse chic to pretty & preppy to gorgeously glam to make it minimalist.
✔️What’s the Trick?
The trick is to personalize YOUR fall decor to fit your vibe. Fall decor, (or ANY decor, just like with THIS sticker decor post), shouldn’t be forced, fake or frightful. Instead, home decor should mimic YOUR style. Guess what – that’s easy to do (in 3 steps) once you get into the mindset of how to make it happen. Ready to create your OWN autumn indoor oasis? Let’s hone in on your style. Here’s how!
✔️Step 1: What’s Your Decorating Style?
The first step in killin’ it with fall decor in YOUR style is to figure out WHAT the heck your style even is. Although more interior design styles exist, here is a rundown of the top style vibes now. Which one are you?
⭕Minimal: Drawn to neutral colors, simple furnishings and accessories streamlined with no flamboyance?
⭕Rustic: Raving about raw or unfinished pieces, often made of wood or stone or other nature items?
⭕Modern: Liking simple colors with clean lines for your furnishings and accessories?
⭕Industrial: Want exposed brick, galvanized metal and glass, and a masculine vibe of oversized leather sofas?
⭕Coastal: If your happy place is the seashore, your interior decor is probs inspired with cool colors with neutral shades of blues and greens.
⭕Traditional: What about mixing/matching textures and patterns with statement lighting and elaborate classic wallpaper?
⭕Bohemian: Are you globally inspired in your stuff? From the textiles to the rugs to the furniture, everything appears like it was a discovery from a recent trip abroad or a fabulous flea market find!
⭕Preppy: Are your accents pinks and greens with bits of navy intertwined? Do you adore tropical decor with a monogram?
✔️Step 2: What Rooms to Decorate?
Now that you’ve nailed down your interior design style, let’s decide on WHERE to add those types of seasonal touches in your home. No need to overload the seasonal accents in every-single-space. Instead, choose 2 or 3 areas to decorate. Simple.
⭕Front Door (rocking chair with throw blanket, metal planters, wreath…)
⭕Couches (pillows, blankets…)
⭕Kitchen/Dining Room Table (centerpieces, placemats, napkins)
⭕Bedroom (throw pillows, bedding…)
⭕Fireplace Mantel (banners, candles, floral arrangements…)
⭕Windows (curtains, wreath,…)
✔️Step 3: What Seasonal Items to Use?
You’re in the “home” (decorating) stretch, girl! Final step is to determine what kinds of “things” you want to use to add a seasonal bit of style to your space. Good news is that no matter WHAT type of interior design style you embrace, you will use the same types of items for accents. The only difference will be in how each item presents itself.

✔️Need More Inspiration?
No matter what decorations you select (pillows, vases, candles, etc…) it’s all about making it feel like you. If you LOVE updating your decor for the seasons but are NOT a fan of typical decorations stores carry (ex: fall scarecrows/witches, winter Santas, etc…) you just need to remember these 3 steps to easily make the decor fit and feel fabulous!
