Even if you don’t work from home – you still probably work AT home after your work hours. Right? Do you have a space to inspire you? Do you have a home office that is stylish and feels fabulous to be in? Want to know a few easy ways to make YOUR home office more stylish and less stiff? Want shopping suggestions on how to do it on a budget?
Cozy, Chic Couch
- Room Size: Depending on your space, choose a couch/recliner/daybed to make late nights of extra work more calming.
- Color Choice: The couch color is the foundation color for your home office space and other colors will compliment it.
- Multi-Purpose: Look for a couch/loveseat that also doubles as a futon.
Coffee Table Inspiration
- Think Happy: Any items that make you smile are what you want. Put them on a table to create a YAY vibe.
- Flowers: Fresh blooms are always a mood lifter. But if that’s not in the budget, find realistic looking flowers.
- Candles: Choose a scent that brings it. Keep in mind the holder. If you buy a candle housed in a stylish holder, you can reuse that holder for makeup brushes once the candle wax burns up.
- Tray: Not only is a tray decorative, but its a way to easily move all your cute items out of the way if you need room to spread out work papers.
Darling Desk Do-dads
- Pencils/Pens: Write with the RIGHT stuff. Pretty pens and pencils don’t cost much more than a boring #2 pencil.
- Pencil Holder: Clear organizational holders create an openness to your desk while also showing off your pretty pens!
- Theme: Pick one theme/color for your desk. I chose gold and pink. Keeps the look fresh and uncluttered.
- Outside the Box: See that pineapple paperclip holder on my desk? It’s really a jewelry tray that I am using in a different way. Keep that in mind while shopping a dollar section or clearance aisle.
Pretty Pictures
- Gallery Wall: Remember the post HERE about this idea? Use it for your space to have pretty pictures to look at! You want images that being a sense of joy to your mood.
Stylish Storage Solutions
- Designer Boxes: Use fancy-shmancy boxes (talkin’ about you, Louis Vuitton, CHANEL, Gucci…) to store any items. Then – place these pretty (storage) boxes on display. Double-duty-done! Storage plus decorative accents to your space.
- Rustic Boxes: Hit your local flea market to scoop up some farmhouse style wooden boxes or industrial boxes.
- Vintage Boxes: Hello, hat box! How chic would a few of these look in your space while also storing your stuff?
Work in Progress…
No matter how you organize your work space in a home office, remember to keep YOU in mind. Find decor that YOU love. No judgement. All about keeping your vibe positive while being that #GirlBoss that you are.
What will YOU edit in your home office space to make it inspiring and stylish?
I don’t have a home office, but I do always have some fresh flowers on my kitchen island. There is just something so pretty about seeing them as soon as you walk in the door and they always smell SOOOO good.
I have a desk but it’s hardly in a space I can call my own. I share with with my kids and it’s a pass through room between living room and kitchen. We plan to move into a different house over the summer when our lease ends and I’m praying I’ll get to have a space I can call my own. When I do, I’ll remember these tips, especially sticking to a single color palette (PINK!!).
I really lack in style for home Decour. If money were no object I would love to hire someone to totally got my house and redo every single room in a more stylish and trendy way .
These are great tips! My office is drab and needs a makeover. I really want to get a white or light colored desk, I think it would lighten the space so much!
The palm leaf pillows are my favorite! I have palm leaf wallpaper up in my office (we live in Hawaii) and it just makes me so happy whenever I look at it 🙂
Thank’s for sharing your cute space! I wanted to let you know I checked it out! Your Friend from instagram 🙂
I love the pink sparkle pillow! Decorating your office is definitely about adding your own personal style.
I have a home office but I want to repaint and add some more personal touches and organize it better as well. I love having my own personal space for an office and craft room.
That pillow!! Oh my goodness. i am loving your whole set up. Everything is so pretty! i need to redo all my everything, i need more girly in my life!
I just moved my office from the guest room to our loft. Now we have two guest rooms and the loft is now a study. It is decorated in black and gold, my college school colors. It was a little to rah rah for me, so I am looking for adorable gold things to tone down the Missouri Tigers look of the room. I love some of the things you have. I just need to glam it up a bit.
That’s really lovely. It would be nice to create a stylish home office, it’s more inspiring to work when you’re surrounded by beautiful things! I think these are all nice ideas especially if you work at home all day.
I love your office! Mine needs an update BAD. I share with my husband, and we have a bed in the office for company so it gets pretty crowded in here.
You have the best office I have ever seen it is cute. I love the cushions and how light and airy the room is. You should be an interior designer! x
I’m currently working on my home office too – it’s so exciting but I just want to have it done and I’m not particularly patient so I’m worried I’ll rush it. My style is very different to yours – I just can’t seem to be able to pull off the neat and crisp white haha It’s probably my naughty cats too that are leaving their black fluff absolutely everywhere! 😀 so I’m going with more dark vintage vibes. Your space is just gorgeous lovely xxx
I have not updated my office lately but when I was developing it I brought in pictures of past lives and jobs and things that make me happy like that little pineapple paperclip holder you have. I do need to get some new décor and clean out some clutter.
I love color. I think it helps to set the tone and feel of a room. For me, my office needs to be well-organized and a place that inspires creativity. Color, art and interesting objects are great for helping me make my office feel like a place I can spend time in.
The most important item on your desk was that Starbuck’s cup! You can’t work without Starbuck’s. Lol! Of course, I am just kidding. I like your home office. It isn’t too different from mine.
I would never leave my office if that was mine! I am loving the bright white with the fresh flowers and the prints!
I don’t have an office per se but I do have a desk and office space so this is super helpful! I really want to add a gallery wall to mine! so pretty
I can’t get over your sofa, it is so chic and cute!! I love your office and decor tips, too!
I can’t wait to put together my home office! I love all of your ideas.! Fresh flowers are a must in every room for sure!
This is so asethically pleasing, once I have room in my house, I definitely will be taking these tips!
Can you come decorate my house?! My home is what I call -“kid and puppy friendly.” Tastefully done when we did it before kids and said puppy, but definitely much more functional now 🙂
I love how pretty this room is. I also love your layout for the art work. I’ve tried to recreate something similiar at home.
Oooo so many fabulous Decor suggestions!! My office is filled with gold accent items. They really glam my office up!
Such a cute home office! I don’t have a room for some office place but if I had one, i would definitely make it like this!
You’ve created such a beautiful space for yourself. I appreciate all the light, and the clean, bright, organic color you’ve integrated
I love the light airiness of the office space you’ve created. It seems like the perfect place to be inspired and creative. We are going to have my boys start sharing a room in the next year or so and convert the other room to a home office for my husband and I so I will be sure to utilize a lot of these tips.
I wish I had my own office space! Yours is beautiful! I love the pineapples and flamingoes.
it looks perfect! Love the color.
