Fall is finally here, and as fashion houses rock the runways this month, there is plenty of style inspiration to make a girl want to head to the mall ASAP with no budget in mind. Although having no budget is much more of a dream than a reality for most, that doesn’t mean you still can’t treat yourself to a few new fall favorites that will completely transform your summer wardrobe. Specifically speaking, there are plenty of fabulous footwear options that are sure to make any outfit feel autumn-appropriate, even if you haven’t gotten your hands on some of the hottest clothing trends yet.
To spice up your fall shoe collection, I gathered five must-have styles that are trending for this season. Not only are these looks fun and fresh, but they are actually wearable! Here’s what you should add to your closet this autumn.
Velvet Boots
If there is one fabric that’s having a moment this fall, it’s velvet. The ultra-luxe and rich texture of velvet will be clad on everything you wear this season. However, if you want to pay homage to the trend in a more subtle and everyday way, Huffington Post recommends casting your eyes towards some velvet boots. The key is to find some with a skinny ankle and a retro platform.
Flatforms
If you follow fashion at all, there’s no way you haven’t seen a ton of flatforms clogging up your social feeds. That’s because these low-key and cool slip-ons are casual enough for everyday wear, but they add just enough height to give your legs a little boost. PureWow says to stick with a neutral color and minimal embellishments to stay on-trend.
Thigh-Highs
Over-the-knee boots made a big debut last fall, and now they’re even bigger and bolder than ever. Thigh-high boots are an absolute must for chic fall fashion this year, and you’d be crazy not to step into a pair. Just remember to make sure your outfit allows for the eye-catching boots, otherwise it can look a little too overwhelming.
Loafers
Androgyny is a big-time coolness factor lately, and the best way to borrow from the boys is with a great pair of loafers. Like Lyst shows, there is a gamut of different loafer styles being offered from a wide array of footwear designers. So no matter your personal style, there’s a loafer out there to suit you. Pair them with a girly outfit or go for full-on masculinity; the possibilities are endless with these versatile shoes!
Combat Boots
Do military-inspired combat boots ever really go out of style? With the saturation of grungy, ‘90s details overtaking our wardrobes, there’s no wonder combat boots make the perfect companions. Edgy but neutral enough to pair with lots of outfits, these shoes will complete your fall shoe collection.
Which shoe style are you the MOST excited to try out/wear this upcoming fall season?
I want boots this fall. All mine are worn out nand old. That said I am loving these shoes too cute.
Since I’m chasing little ones around all day I could definitely use a pair of flatforms but I’d love an excuse to rock a pair of thigh-highs. If I have a chance to splurge though it will be on loafers – classic and trendy, you just can’t go wrong.
Combat boots are always in, in my opinion! 🙂 Which is crazy considering I no longer own a pair. I need to jump on that ASAP!
XO
I love shoes, you just can’t have too many… If nothing else fits my shoes usually do… lol
I’m realizing how much I love shoes as I read your post. Definitely need to get me some thigh high boots this fall.
Funny I have a pair of velvet boots I bought as a “must have” 2 years ago and I’ve never worn them. I did just get a pair of cowboy boots though and I’ve already worn them a couple of times on cooler nights. Definitely more a combat boot and cowboy boots gal!
I would love a pair of thigh high boots! I’m sure my Husband would find them so sexy. But I think it’s such a chic look.
Wedge booties are probably going to be “the” shoe for me this fall. Of course boots too. That’s a given.
I’m in love with tall boots! So cozy this time of year. My favorite fall accessory!
i’m definitely in need of some new shoes! I can’t wait for fall fashions, they are always some of my favorite looks!
I’m like the velvet boots and flatforms. I also like the chunky heeled mary janes. I’m not a huge fan of the thigh high boots, but that’s only because I have short legs. Of course I don’t need any excuse to shop for shoes, just wish I had the endless budget to support my habit.
My favorite fall shoes are loafers. Especially the Gucci! But I loved the striped ones you shared, so cute!
These are great suggestions. I’m so in love with the boots. Velvet boots, especially.
I am loving this list! I always make sure that I have a good and reliable pair of boots. Those are my favorite type of shoes when fall hits.
I have always loved wearing boots in the cooler seasons, especially thigh-highs! Velvet boots make me reminisce of the late 90s where I exclusively wore velvet. This is why I’m so glad it’s back in style!
Combat boots! Those were definitely a staple for me all through junior high and high school. Love to see that I have an excuse to wear them again 🙂
Yup! I sure do need all this fabulousness!!! I have been searching for a fabulous velvet pair the past few weeks!!
I don’t think I have any of these. Of course, I’m excited about boots. Hello, fall! And the lace-up flats. I almost bought a pair before I saw everyone wearing them, but I put them back 🙁
I was just checking out combat boots the other day actually and yes, they certainly never go out of style. I absolutely love this list by the way!
